This terrific journey began over ten years ago...
I was recruited from a sales rep. to work for a high end salon & spa. When I started with them, I supervised over their receptionist department. When doing so, I watched with envy the talent that walked through their doors. The hair designers did not only make their clients leave feeling wonderful about themselves, but they were creating art. It was truly amazing to my eyes.
The next step for me was enrolling in a local cosmotology school. With the licence in hand, I started to train and mentor with the salon's top professional educator. How blessed I was to have this opportunity handed to me on a silver platter. Who knew that all the continuing education would take me to some incredible cities, such as, New York, Los Angelas, Chicago and Las Vegas. In doing so, I was given the chance to work hands on with some very talented people in the industry.
Although, education is a major importance in our line of work, I believe you learn through experience. Thankfully, my many mentors allowed me to follow on their coat tails. This is where I learned to create and to have fun doing so.
Discovering that I needed to grow, I took a risk. Another way I believe you learn. Through risk. I said my good-byes to the place that helped me discover my talent, and said hello to the ones who let me bloom. It is here, where creative art and beauty became one. The urge to do this on my own came from feeling each individuals beauty beaming from them as they looked at themselves for the first time in the mirror. Weddings, prom or just an important event, we want to feel beautiful. We want to look beautiful. And with the encouragement and loyalty from my husband, friends, clients and mentors, Pixies Hair Design was born.
